Chattanooga, TN – The first Free Lunch this week will be a Joe Ely's first release in five years. "Streets of Sin," on Rounder records, is a gritty look at the lives of ordinary people struggling to survive.

All of the material on the album was written and composed by Ely. His compassion on the album is evident and his songs are genuine Joe Ely masterpieces.

WUTC is proud to dish out Joe Ely's "Streets of Sin" as the free lunch for Tuesday.

Chattanooga, TN – The Free Lunch for Thursday, July 24 will be the latest release from bluegrass phenom Tim O'Brien titled Traveler, on Sugar Hill records.

For 20 years, O'Brien has been a major player in Americana music. His mandolin sty lings can be heard on numerous albums and his songwriting skills sung by many artists. He is best known for his songs Untold Stories and Walk the way the Wind Blows, both recorded by Kathy Mattea.

Chattanooga, TN – The Free Lunch for Tuesday, July 22 will be a special interview with the legendary rock duo Steely Dan. The interview is titled One Hour Sale! and documents the making of Steely Dan's latest release on Reprise Records, Everything Must Go .

Chattanooga, TN – Tuesday's Free Lunch will be the new, roots based, album from John Mellencamp. The new album is titled Trouble No More and was released on June, 3 from Columbia records.

Trouble No More is the first cover album of Mellencamp's career. It features Mellencamp and his band performing a collection of classic blues and folk songs.

Chattanooga, TN – Thursday's Free Lunch will be the Tuscon Az, based Calexico. Their new album titled Feast of Wire will be aired in its entirety at noon on Thursday, July 10.

Fans of Calexico are drawn to the group's varying styles of music. On Feast of Wire, all of the songs seem to gather their roots from various musical backgrounds. Songs such as Stevie Nicks, and Sunken Waltz exemplify Calexico's varying stylistic influences.

Chattanooga, TN – Every Tuesday and Thursday, WUTC offers something special to midday listeners. The Free Lunch program is the broadcast of an entire album, concert, or radio interview for your listening pleasure.

On Thursday, July 03, 2003 the Free Lunch will feature a radio interview with the members of the Alt. Country band Uncle Tupelo. This interview discusses the formation and demise of the legendary group with interviews with the band's three members: Jay Farrar, Jeff Tweedy, and Mike Heidorn.

In the coming weeks, WUTC plans to use the Free Lunch hour to air recent concerts from both the Riverbend Festival and the ongoing Nightfall Concert series.

The Free Lunch hour begins at noon every Tuesday and Thursday on WUTC radio.

On Tuesday, WUTC will air the first half of Jennifer Daniels performance from the Unumprovident stage on Friday, June 6.

The second half of the concert will be played on Thursday, June 26.

Chattanooga – Andrew Bird, a former member of Squirrel Nut Zippers, has proven himself a worthy solo artist with his most recent album on Grimsey records.

A noted violinist, Bird decided to part with the popular indie label, RYKO, in an attempt to explore his musical landscape.

Weather Systems couples Bird's melodic violin compositions with insightfull lyricism.

Throw in the voice of Nora' O' Conner, a long time friend and musical partner, and the album takes flight.
