'Awesome Songs for Cool Kids' Wins Adult Fans, Too

Chattanooga native Alex Volz returned to the Scenic City after more than a decade of living in Los Angeles.  While in LA, he recorded a children's album, Awesome Songs for Cool KidsNow that he's back here, he's been performing his wild, hilarious songs at local events like Normalpalooza and the Mainx24 festival.

Volz has fans in both Chattanooga and Los Angeles.

Chattanooga Pulse reviewer Marc Michael says, "It seems these particular awesome songs have great appeal for cool kids of any age... The album is drenched in distorted guitar, thumping drums and mischievousness—and frankly, it’s just good fun from beginning to end."

Time Out LA reviewer Kate Wertheimer also praises the album, writing "Yes, it's for small fries. But it's also hilarious. And clever and catchy and soulful, with tracks spanning blues, funk and rock with some Irish brogue and talking tacos thrown in for good measure. Volz's music doesn't pander to kids—it doesn't assume they're idiots, it assumes they're curious and open-minded and ready to freakin' rock."

Volz joins us in the WUTC studios to talk about his music, discuss what inspired him to start writing kids' songs and perform live for us.

His album Awesome Songs for Cool Kids is currently available on Bandcamp as a name-your-own-price download.
