Blood Assurance Taking Donations For Bus Victims

The Woodmore Elementary bus crash has caused an outpouring of support from the community.  The waiting room at Blood Assurance is crammed full of people patiently waiting their turn to donate blood.

O- negative blood is needed the most, Blood Assurance Marketing Coordinator Mindy Quinn explained Tuesday.

“It is very busy as you can see. We've got lots of donors waiting. What we know right now is that our schedule is full for today and tomorrow.  We are fast tracking O- donors in as well as platelet donors. And we are asking the community to call ahead and start to schedule for Friday, Saturday, and into next week. Because the blood supplies are going to need to be replenished,” Quinn said.

Despite the massive turnout of donors, the bank asks that community members continue to sign up to donate.

"The need for blood is not going to end."

Donors can call 1-800-962-0628 or schedule an appointment online with Blood Assurance.
