Chattanooga Food Bank, Animal Shelters Receiving Donations on Behalf of WUTC Listeners

WUTC FM 88.1 wrapped up a successful Spring Pledge Drive the evening of May 4, 2017, raising $150,000 in just nine days.

Among the many who deserve thanks for helping Chattanooga’s National Public Radio station achieve this goal are two local businesses that sponsored special fundraising days.

Henry Glascock, of the Henry B. Glascock Company, sponsored a gift of $1,000 to the Chattanooga Area Food Bank’s Sack Pack program, which provides over 2,000 area children with a sack of nutritious food, placed in their backpacks on Fridays so that they do not go hungry over the weekend.

To redeem Henry’s gift, WUTC needed 150 listeners to call in or go online to make a pledge to the radio station, which our fantastic listeners did! Henry’s generous gift to the food bank will provide over 330 sacks of food for kids.

The Henry B. Glascock Company is an auction, appraisals and real estate brokerage firm here in Chattanooga. Since 1973, the team at the Glascock Company has sold, appraised, developed, and auctioned over 11,000 pieces of residential and commercial land and property in Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, Washington State, Colorado, Utah, Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi, Florida, and Alabama.

Liz Fortanier, owner of Choo Choo Dog Camp, a Chattanooga business that provides dog day and overnight camps, boarding, training and grooming, stepped up near the end of the pledge drive and became a sponsor for Pet Wars Day on May 4. Liz generously offered to donate $500 to McKamey Animal Center and $500 to Humane Educational Society of Chattanooga.

Pet Wars Day is a fun tradition at WUTC during fundraising drives, allowing our supporters to give to the radio station in the names of their furry, feathered, finned, hooved and scaly best friends. Liz’s sponsorship fits in with her company’s dedication to support rescue, adoption, and spay and neuter programs.
