Footgolf Tournament Benefits Blood Assurance 9/18

From a media release:

Union General Hospital is the presenting sponsor for a FootGolf tournament that will be held this Thursday, September 18 at Old Union Golf Course in Blairsville, Georgia. The tournament will benefit the Blood Assurance Foundation.  Appalachian Home Health is sponsoring the low country boil dinner that will be served after the tournament to the players during the awards ceremony. Check in is at 4:00 p.m. ET and tee off is at 5:00 p.m. All participants will receive a goodie bag. Team registration and more information about this event are available at www.BAFFootGolf.EventBrite.com or contact Bonnie Phillips at BonniePhillips@BloodAssurance.org or 423-752-8465.

Since 2011 FootGolf has been played in North America. Combining aspects of both soccer and golf, players use a #5 soccer ball at a golf course with special 21” diameter cups built on it. The goal is to kick the ball the fewest amounts of times in to the holes. It is a low impact sport with no running involved, and it is inexpensive, making it a sport anyone can play.

The Blood Assurance Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was established in 1999. It serves a 47 county region and supports the Crystal Green Memorial Scholarship fund, the Excellence in Education high school grant program, and the Be the Match marrow registry. Blood Assurance is the sole provider of blood to Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
