Free Anti-Bullying 'Bootcamp' for Chattanooga Parents & Kids set for 9/4

From a media release:

UTC Football Coach Russ Huesman to kickoff the evening with a reading of “Bully Beans”

Addressing the serious issue of bullying and how to help stop it, is the focus of a free two hour Kidklout™ “Bootcamp” taking place on Thursday September 4th from 6PM-8PM at the Walker Pavilion in Coolidge Park in downtown Chattanooga.

This fun, dynamic, interactive evening is geared toward parents and elementary school aged children. Activities include special guest, UTC Football Coach Russ Huesman reading Julia Cook’s Bully Beans aloud, musical sing-a-longs and taking the pledge to help stop bullying by signing the Kidklout™  “Stop Bullying”  Ford Escape.

In addition, Dr. Jay Banks, educator and entertainer and one of the country’s leading anti-bullying speakers will present his “I am Unafraid” program which reflects the most recent research that empowering youth is the most effective way to reduce bullying behavior. His high energy mix of slapstick comedy and relevant message has garnered him appearances on The Hallmark Channel, the syndicated morning program, New Morning and made him a featured expert in national and global forums.

Kidklout™ is a community initiative created by Comcast Spotlight utilizing the power of multiscreen messaging to address issues facing youth in our communities. KidKlout™’s focus is on putting an end to bullying during the 2014-2015 school year.  Local community Kidklout™ partners are Mountain View Ford Lincoln, Steak ‘n Shake and Children’s Hospital at Erlanger. Their support allows for a series of custom antibullying PSA’s airing across Chattanooga’s Comcast cable network platform, an online resource page for parents and kids (www.kidkloutanswers.net) and mobile marketing events encouraging community participation including the signing of the “pledge” car.
