The Tennessee Arts Commission (TAC) invites the public to join the conversation about the future of the arts in Tennessee at the second of four state-wide strategic planning public meetings. The meeting will be held at the Bessie Smith Cultural Center from 10:00 a.m. until noon with networking and coffee from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 21, 2013.
The Commission is looking forward to hearing from the region responses to some of the important issues that face the arts in Tennessee and welcomes the public’s participation. The meeting will discuss the value of quality arts education as well as economic development and quality of life in Southeast Tennessee, and new ways to advocate for the arts.
A distinguished panel will discuss how the arts play an important role in moving the region forward with a particular emphasis on education in relation to the success of students from Pre-K through 12th grade and life-long learning. The panel includes: Dr. Jean Heise, Humanities Supervisor, Knox County Schools, Knox County; Jill Levine, Principal, Normal Park Museum Magnet School, Hamilton County; and Thomas A. H. White, Senior Vice President, Investor Relations, Unum, Chattanooga. The panel will be moderated by Ann Coulter, Principal, A. Coulter Consulting in Chattanooga.
A round-table discussion will follow the panel discussion. The event is sponsored by Bessie Smith Cultural Center and Arts Build in Chattanooga. Coffee will be provided by Starbucks.
