A GeoCASH Adventure: Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga Offers $35K in Prizes 9/13

The Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga is turning 50 years old, and they’re celebrating by hosting a race for a total of $35,000 in prize money.  Teams from 25 area nonprofits will compete September 13th in the Greater Race: A GeoCASH Adventure. The public is invited to a finish-line party at the First Tennessee Pavilion in downtown Chattanooga.  The race begins at 9 a.m., and the public is encouraged to show up at the pavilion at 10 a.m.

Pete Cooper, President of the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga, joins us to discuss the race and the foundation’s 50-year history in Chattanooga.  During the last half-century, the foundation has given away more than $160 million dollars to fund public art, scholarships, community groups, downtown revitalization and much, much more.

From the organizers:

For 50 years now, we've been giving money to deserving organizations who are making Chattanooga greater. We thought now is a good time to celebrate those 50 years by giving presents to local charities. Twenty-five preselected teams from local non-profits will be traversing the downtown Chattanooga area, geocaching-style, competing for $35,000 worth of prize money. Then to top it off, we are throwing a party afterwards to celebrate even more. Come cheer on your local charities at the First Tennessee Pavilion and learn more about the non-profit community in Chattanooga. As a bonus, you also have the opportunity to enter your favorite non-profit into a drawing for a $1,000 donation.
