Luther Masingill, 92 Years Old & Still Broadcasting

Luther Masingill, the legendary local radio personality, will celebrate his 92nd birthday on Sunday, March 9th.  Known simply as "Luther" to generations of Chattanooga listeners, he's been on the air at WDEF for more than 70 years.  In 2012, Luther was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame.

David Carroll posted this clip of Luther's recent appearance on Sirius XM:

David Carroll's blog has more informationon Luther's incredible career.  Carroll, who is a broadcast historian and a WRCB news anchor, devoted an entire chapter of his book Chattanooga Radio and Television to Luther.

Other Chattanooga media personalities have also written about Luther.  WDEF's James Howard, who co-hosts mornings with Luther, co-authored the book My Life With Luther: A Glimpse of a Legendary American Broadcaster.

In 2012, Luther got national attention when he was profiled onCBS's evening news program.
