Muse of Fire: Ten Original Short Plays Written by Kids, Acted by Adults

Stevie Ray Dalimore and Kate Forbes Dalimore have been described as a “Chattanooga power couple.” They are both actors who have worked in movies and television as well as the theater in New York. After moving to Chattanooga several years ago, Stevie Ray became the Director of the Theater Program at McCallie School while Kate continued working in the theater and they both still work regularly work in television and movies.

Despite their demanding schedules, they both find time for a project that invites children from across the city to try their hand at play writing. Called The Muse of Fire,it’s a fourteen week long introduction to live theater for 10 to 12 years olds, many of whom have never even seen live theater.

Stevie Ray Dalimore and Kate Forbes Dalimore talked to Richard Winham about their program and the plays they and their pint-size playwrights are presenting with adult actors in the Chattanooga Public Library on April 17th at 7 pm and the 18th at 3 pm and 7 pm.

Richard Winham joined WUTC five years after the station began broadcasting to the Chattanooga area and the Tennessee Valley.
