The United Auto Workers are appealing last week's election results at Chattanooga's Volkswagen manufacturing plant. In the UAW's objection, filed with the National Labor Relations Board, the UAW claims that Tennessee politicians such as State Senator Bo Watson "conducted what appears to have been a coordinated and widely-publicized coercive campaign... to deprive VWGOA workers of their federally-protected right, through the Election, to support and select the UAW as their exclusive representative... free of coercion, intimidation, threats and interference."
During the election, Watson said that if workers chose UAW representation, future financial incentives for Volkswagen in Tennessee might be in jeopardy.

UPDATE 4:31 p.m.:
Senator Bob Corker has released a statement replying to the UAW's objection.
"The workers at Chattanooga's Volkswagen plant spoke very clearly last week, so we are disappointed the UAW is ignoring their decision and has filed this objection. Unfortunately, I have to assume that today's action may slow down Volkswagen’s final discussions on the new SUV line,” said Corker. “This complaint affirms the point many of us have been making: that the UAW is only interested in its own survival and not the interests of the great employees at Chattanooga’s Volkswagen facility nor the company for which they work.”
