Voices From Home: Bluegrass Edition

Cindy Pinion hosts the Voices From Home: Bluegrass Edition the first Monday of each month at 8:00PM.Chattanooga, TN – Cindy Pinion, host of the Bluegrass Edition of Voices From Home, grew up surrounded by bluegrass. Her father was Thomas "Boxcar" Pinion, noted upright bass player for the local band The Grasscutters.

Cindy admits that she first listened to rock and roll "like every teenager", but then the bluegrass bug bit her. When her father was diagnosed with cancer in 1989, family and friends organized a benefit concert, and bluegrass musicians from all over came to play. The next year The Boxcar Pinion Memorial Bluegrass Festival was held.

Cindy and her sisters, Ruth and Inez, along with her mother Frances, continue to spread the word about bluegrass by bringing some of the best in the bluegrass world to Chattanooga.

The Boxcar Pinion Festival is held the first weekend in May every year. This year's lineup features Rhonda Vincent and the Rage, IIIrd Time Out, Charlie Waller and the Country Gentlemen, The James King Band, The Dismembered Tennesseans, and many others.
