Free Lunch for Tuesday, June 10

Chattanooga – Andrew Bird, a former member of Squirrel Nut Zippers, has proven himself a worthy solo artist with his most recent album on Grimsey records.

A noted violinist, Bird decided to part with the popular indie label, RYKO, in an attempt to explore his musical landscape.

Weather Systems couples Bird's melodic violin compositions with insightfull lyricism.

Throw in the voice of Nora' O' Conner, a long time friend and musical partner, and the album takes flight.

European Opera On WUTC-FM

WFMT Fine Arts Network has suspended The Lyric Opera Of Chicago 2003 season. However, the network is providing us with
nine European Opera's from the archives of the European Broadcasting Union. These world-class performances have been heard by millions of listeners throughout the world. Chattanooga, TN – John Hammond's new album, Ready for Love, is the featured album for Tuesday's Free Lunch on WUTC radio.

Ready for Love is a difficult album to describe. Its random assortment of songs makes it extremely difficult to pinpoint a theme. And I'm a bit perplexed as to the motivation behind covering such songs as Spider And The Fly, by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and the George Jones hit, Just One More. Nevertheless, Hammond manages to carry the different song styles in his own and very unique way.

Wes Cunningham visits WUTC this Thursday

Chattanooga, TN – The exciting and quirky singer/songwriter, Wes Cunningham will be visiting the WUTC studios on Thursday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. promoting his new release, Pollyanna, on PENTAVARIT records.

Cunningham will talk with veteran WUTC radio personality, Richard Winham on Thursday afternoon followed by a 5:30 p.m. appearance at Chad's records on 326 Vine St., in Chattanooga.

Pollyanna has been on the WUTC play list for several weeks and has been receiving positive feedback from listeners.
