Beehive Design Collective Returning To Chattanooga 11/13

"The True Cost of Coal" will be unveiled at the University of Tennessee

 The Beehive Design Collective is an art group that works on an anonymous level. They create elaborate posters detailing the balance between natural and industrialized environments.

At the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, The Bee Hive Design Collective will present the “The True Cost of Coal”, a narrative illustration exploring the effect of mountaintop removal.

Free UTC Jazz Band Concert Coming Up 11/13

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Music Department will present UTC’s Jazz Band, showcasing a variety of jazz styles from composers Quincy Jones,  Thelonious Monk,  Cootie Williams and others.  Guest vocalists Amy Oaks and Alea Tveit will also perform with The Jazz Band on Wednesday,  November 13th at 7:30 PM.

TFNS Performs 'Circle Mirror Transformation' 11/8 - 11/17

WUTC's Michael Edward Miller talks to the director and cast members from the Theater For The New South, which is performing Circle Mirror Transformation, a play about five people participating in a drama class who wind up revealing personal information and secrets while playing acting games.  The play opens 11/8 at the South Chattanooga Recreation Center.

Reflections Gallery Staging Local Landscapes Exhibition Nov - Jan

On November 7th, Reflections Gallery on Lee Highway is hosting a reception for the artists featured in the upcoming exhibition, Fine Art Landscapes. All of the paintings in the exhibition are by local artists, one of whom, Lee Fritch, talked to Richard Winham about his life and work.  The exhibition will run from November 2013 to January 2014.

'Ender's Game' Fundraiser 11/2 Features Local Actor from the Film

Proceeds from an upcoming Ender's Game screening in Chattanooga will benefit the local Muse of Fire Project and will feature local actor Stevie Ray Dallimore, who is in the film.

Participants in a local playwriting workshop get to see one of their mentors on the big screen this Saturday as Stevie Ray Dallimore, Artistic Director of The Muse of Fire Project, appears alongside Harrison Ford and Viola Davis in the sci-fi blockbuster Ender’s Game.

Sherriff's Law Enforcement Foundation Luncheon On November 7th

In 2011, Sheriff Jim Hammond created the Sheriff’s Law Enforcement Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating partnerships between local business and law enforcement. The Sheriff’s Law Enforcement Foundation provides pertinent training and state-of-the-art technology to local officers.

On November 7th, the foundation is having a luncheon at the Chattanoogan Hotel to provide the public with information about the organization, as well as presenting speaker Mark Kroeker, former chief of police in Portland, Oregon.

UTC Department of Opera Presents 'An Evening Of Opera Scenes' 11/1

“An Evening Of Opera” will celebrate two anniversaries,  the 200th birth anniversary of Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi and the 100th anniversary of British composer Benjamin Britten.  Scenes from both composers will be presented along with other operas.  UTC’s Director Of Opera Perry Ward will also perform with UTC students on Friday,  November 1st at 7:30 PM in the Roland Hayes Concert Hall at UTC’s Fine Arts Center.
