A Special Message for WUTC Volunteers

WUTC’s staff would like to thank all our volunteers who turned out Tuesday, March 10, for the volunteer training luncheon. It was great to see so many people in attendance – we had a packed house!

The almost-final draft of the master schedule for volunteers has been assembled, and we have sent out emails to many of our volunteers. If you didn’t get an email, then please call the station office at 423-425-4756 this week to check your schedule.

Please Pledge Your Support Today. We’ll Give You Something Extra.

Spring brings the promise of renewal and new growth, and that’s also true for WUTC, Chattanooga’s National Public Radio station. Starting on March 16, WUTC staff will be on the air reminding our listeners to renew their pledge to WUTC and asking listeners who’ve never given before to do so.  As a special incentive to give early in this membership drive, if you make a donation before March 16, your name will be entered twice in all the on-air giveaway drawings.

WUTC Transmitter Repairs Are Nearly Complete

For the past few days, WUTC has been operating under reduced transmission power and without the HD2 signal due to repairs to a crucial piece of transmission equipment. Repairing that component revealed the need for a second repair, which is underway today.

We hope to have our signal back to normal by Tuesday, February 17, and thank all our listeners for their support and understanding.

Volunteers Needed for Spring 2015 Fund Drive

WUTC’s Spring 2015 fund drive is fast approaching, and we once again need the help of our amazing volunteers to answer phone calls from donors.

The fund drive will begin on Monday, March 16. We hope to finish it in two weeks and a couple of days, but we’ll have a three-week schedule just in case. Fund-raising takes place from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. There is no fund-raising after 8 p.m. or on weekends.

If you want to give an “in honor of you” gift card, a DJ for An Hour, the WUTC Holiday Ornament, WUTC pewter keychain, or our fun Holiday gift package (ornament, key chain, USB car charger, and smartphone wallet), please do not delay.

WUTC’s business office will be closed for Christmas break Dec. 20-28. Our online giving page is always open 24/7, 365 days a year, to receive any online end of year donations. To instantly receive a thank you letter with receipt, be sure to enter your email address where noted on the form.

WUTC-FM Wins Edward R. Murrow Award; Will Rebroadcast Documentary April 29th

WUTC-FM, the public radio station licensed to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, was a winner of a 2013 regional Edward R. Murrow Award for a news documentary.  The region includes radio and television stations from Kentucky, North Carolina,  South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia.  The news documentary, produced by Mary Helen Miller, was titled 'Just Plumb Gone': A Year after the Tornado in ApisonTennessee.  The award-winning radio documentary will be re-run on WUTC 88.1 FM Monday, April 29th at 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST.
