Theatre Centre Stages "The Crucible," Arthur Miller Classic

Chattanooga, TN – "The Crucible" opens at the Theatre Centre on June 18th and will run through July 11, 2010, with a break for July 4th weekend.

This Tony Award winning play is directed by Chuck Tuttle, Education Director for Chattanooga's community theatre. Tuttle is happy to direct this Classic American work that he believes to be both timely and timeless.

Author Sam McLeod visits Chattanooga

Chattanooga, TN – Sam McLeod grew up in Nashville, Tennessee and never forgot his southern roots and the food tied to those memories. On a road trip from his current home in Walla Walla Washington for a reunion to his old neighborhood, Sam revisits his childhood and shares those memories in his newest book "Big Appetite My Southern-Fried Search for the Meaning of Life."

Hillman Pederson Perfom Bluegrass, Folk Classics

Chattanooga, TN – Chris Hillman peformed Mister Tambourine Man... the Bob Dylan song that Hillman and his group, The Byrds, made famous in the 1960's.

Today, Hillman performs with Herb Pederson. At the festival, they played folk, bluegrass, and gospel. Hillman says these classics still feel new.

Chattanooga Ranked as More Bike-Friendly

Chattanooga, TN – Tennessee was recently ranked 24th in the nation as a bicycle friendly state, moving up 19 spots since 2009.

The announcement was made by the League of American Bicyclists at their third annual rankings. The state of Tennessee also improved, and it moved to 24th place this year, from a number 43 ranking last year. Locally, Chattanooga has been recognized as a bronze level bicycle friendly city.

Sculpture And Glass Creations Debut At Chattanooga's River Gallery

Chattanooga, TN – A new exhibit features two very unique artists at Chattanooga's River Gallery, in the Bluff View Art District. Russell Whiting uses a torch to carve dynamic human figures out of steel. Jacquelyne Collett creates glass constructions-colorful, mysteriously opaque, eye-catching pieces.

Today, we will visit the River Gallery and hear from both artists.

Red Clay Season Begins

Chattanooga, TN – Red Clay Historic Park is located in the extreme Southwest corner of Bradley County Tennessee, just above the Tennessee-Georgia State Line. The park encompasses 263-acres of narrow valleys formerly used as cotton and pasture land. This summer it will be the location of several events for the community.

A Hike On Stringer's Ridge

Chattanooga, TN – On Saturday morning, the Tennessee River Gorge Trust and the Trust for Public Land had an event showing off the new Stringer's Ridge wilderness sanctuary.

Although the trails aren't quite yet cleared off, the public was allowed a sneak peek at the natural beauty and the spectacular views.
