Why Did Blues Fiddling Vanish?

Fiddlers were an integral part of the Mississippi Sheiks and other early blues acts.  Today, however, blues fiddlers are rarely heard.  What happened?  We get answers from Elijah Wald, a music historian, and Suzy Thompson, a modern blues fiddler.

For more examples of modern blues fiddling, check out two of our favorites: The Lionel Young Band and the Carolina Chocolate Drops.
